| Abstract | The history of Chinese oil painting spans one hundred years of dramatic cultural change. Today's 'Third Generation Artists' can be classified as either Neo-Realist or Avant Garde. These artists have found a unique way to explore the value of art and communicate their vision. The roots of the 'Neo-Realist' movement lie in the period of cultural change in which the People's Republic was founded. The truthful style of European oil painting offered a new objective way for Chinese artists to portray reality. |
