AbstractIn recent years, self-regulation has been one of the key concepts internationally in the monitoring of accounting organisations. Practice review, aiming to enhance member's standards, has been up and running in Hong Kong for the past three and a half years. To date, several hundreds firms have undergone the review process. And it all began in the late 80s with the setting-up of the Professional Standards Monitoring Committee, whose job is to review published accounts.
