AbstractThe story of Gao Dekang, from tailor to tycoon. Gao Dekang was a tailor in a small village in Changshu county in Jiangsu province. In 1975 he bought eight second-hand sewing machines from his village and employed 11 young people to start a tailoring group in his house, handling sewing work from nearby villagers. In 1995 his own factories produced 1.5 million denim garments and 600,000 pairs of sports shoes, altogether worth over 200 million Yuan and earning 30 million Yuan of profits.
