| Abstract | In 1994 the Shanghai textile industry generated over 1.1 billion Yuan of profits tax, of which a third came from foreign-funded plants. While the average fulfilment rate in other cities is rather low, in Shanghai about 71% of the foreign investors have honoured their agreements to set up joint-venture or foreign-funded textile plants, a rate 15% higher than in other types of investment in the city. Also, many world-famous commercial and industrial corporations have shown confidence in the future of Shanghai. |
