| Abstract | On 1 July 1995, after many days of heavy rain, the River Yuan, which empties towards Lake Dongting in Hunan province in China, rose high and threatened the bank that surrounds Taoyuan county. Workers of the Taoyuan Printing & Dyeing Plant were assigned to watch the 600-metre long embankment, of which 20 metres were directly threatened by the rising water. |
