| Abstract | On 25 July 1994 the Qiangjiang People's Court declared the Qiangjiang City Ramie Textile Plant bankrupt, making it the first textile plant to be bankrupted in the city. At the same time the Qianglong Silk Fabrics Plant, similarly established in 1983, reported annual growth in profit and profits tax of 30% for the previous few years, making it the most profitable textile enterprise in the entire province of Hubei. From January to July this plant generated profits tax of 1.3 million Yuan. |
