Abstract | Important ethnic differences have been suggested from studies reporting associations between renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) gene polymorphisms and cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, coronary artery disease and cardiomopathy. As this implies that the relative importance of the RAAS system in these diseases may be different in different ethnic groups, doctors from Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prince of Wales Hospital have explored the possibility in Chinese since they have been relatively under investigated to date. The findings are summarised in this article. |
