Abstract | During the War the China Textile Machinery Factory, established in 1920, manufactured weapons for the Japanese army. After 1949 the factory was reorganised as a textile machine builder, and produce 90% of the looms supplied to the textile industry in China, prospering for a long period. From 1986 its business started to decline, until in February 1992 a capable manager was appointed to supervise this factory and a series of reforms was instituted. The situation has since improved rapidly. |
