| Abstract | A research study lasting three years on the municipal solid waste management system of Hong Kong has been completed. It is concluded that Hong Kong should change from the existing landfill oriented approach to a more diversified strategy including recycling, waste reduction and converting waste to energy. The formulation of the integrated waste management targets in the short and the medium terms is briefly introduced. |
