Abstract | He runs Taiwan's ninth-largest company but that is not the only reason why Kao Chin-yen wields a lot of clout. The chief executive officer of food-based conglomerate President Group is also a member of the ruling Kuomintang's Central Standing committee, a director of the Straits Exchange Foundation, Taiwan's quasi-private liaison agency with China, and chairman of the Chinese National Federation of Industries.
