| Abstract | The Hong Kong Hospital Authority IT/IS Strategic Plan (92-2000) has been evolving since end-1994 to a network-centric and community-based model of the Hong Kong Health Information Superhighway from a distributed model of workstation-centric, Hospital Information System in 1992. The paper, prepared by the Authority's Deputy Director John Tse, is for the IHF Pan Regional Conference 1996/Hospital Authority Convention 1996, which attempts to analyse the architectural components of the content, context and infrastructure of the Superhighway and the evolution plan to the end of the decade. The paper also urges that the age of "containment" in healthcare should evolve to a new "alliance" age through the enabling information technology. |
