| Abstract | In March 1996, for the first time the French Business Association (FBA) conducted a survey of its members to measure confidence amongst the French business community during the run-up to the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong. Similar surveys were also carried out in 1995 by the American, Swiss and German Chambers of Commerce amongst their own memberships. A common and important characteristic revealed by all four surveys was that none of the four business communities demonstrated any loss of confidence in Hong Kong's future prospects, with almost insignificant numbers expressing any intention to relocate from Hong Kong. |
