In a country where even telephones are considered rarities in some areas, meeting the demands of the information-technology revolution will be a long, rocky process. But the computer age is slowly beginning to dawn. According to the China Commercial Times, the mainland will soon boast 1.6 million personal computers and another 500,000 home personal computers will be installed in 1996. |
