Abstract | The Hong Kong economy has continued its growth in the midst of adjustments since the beginning of 1996. The overall economy is therefore expected to have a moderate growth. It is expected that the economic performance in 1996 will be slightly better than that in 1995. The growth rate of Gross Domestic Product will reach nearly 5%. Inflation rate is expected to drop to about 7.2%. However, the chance of improvement in unemployment will be rather slim. The growth of export trade may be higher in the second half-year, however, the overall growth rate in 1996 will still be lower than that in 1995. |
