| Abstract | In this paper, the author first illustrates the positive attitude of syncretism from the context of Chinese culture where syncretic nature of religion is a characteristic. Then the Hebrew Wisdom Literature will be examined in the light of the discourse on syncretism. Lastly, the issue of syncretism and exclusivism in the Old Testament will be taken up to see in what way the biblical tradition can be understood as syncretic and how it is that anti-syncretism has become the frame and over-arching principle. |
