| Abstract | Fierce competition among travel agencies in Vancouver, British Columbia, escalated recently when a Chinese-Canadian travel agent launched a bid to gain support for legislation banning foreign government ownership of travel agencies. The campaign's immediate target is China Travel Service (Canada) Inc. Richard Liu, president of Canada Swan International Travel Ltd in Vancouver, told the local media on January 21 that CTS (Canada) was offering unreasonably low tour prices with a view toward conrnering the market in traffic betwen North America and China, which is generally believed to offer multi-billion-dollar potential. |
