| Abstract | Although China's enthusiasm in attracting foreign capital is certainly welcomed abroad, brokers are worried that some institutional investors are reluctant to fully embrace Chinese companies without a bit of domestic assurance from their mainland parents in the shape of a formal securities law. Those who have seen the drafts of this law, first promised years ago by Chinese authorities, say it covers everything from mergers and acquisitions to short-term trading by directors. However, the question of where this law is remains unanswered. |
