| Abstract | For years, analysts have been warning that China was in danger of overloading its basic structures. A report issued 1993 by South China Brokerage cautioned that "for China, as a developing economy with weak industrial bases, infrastructural development is the first and necessary step for modernisation." Now, a recent World Bank Report has blasted China's transport infrastructure, estimating that the annual cost to China for its inadequacies in this sector totals over US$5 billion. |
