| Abstract | According to director of Xinhua News Agency (Hong Kong branch) Zhou Nan, Hong Kong residents will enjoy more democracy and freedom than in the past. Zhou insists the Basic Law gives adequate guarantees to such questions as freedom of the press, human rights and democracy. He said that it was after the signing of the Sino-British Joint Declaration that the question of introducing democracy in Hong Kong began to be considered. |
