| Abstract | Traditional Chinese medicines have been growing in popularity and respect all around the world. Since the late 1980s, an increasing number of overseas students have come to China to learn more about these ancient curatives. Between 1988-93, the mainland attracted 14,700 overseas students. China's annual traditional Chinese herbal medicine output accounts for about 80 per cent of the world's total. Yet, less than 10 per cent of that turnover found its way into Chinese pockets. |
