AbstractTaiwan's economy is starting to turn around after nearly a year of slow growth made worse by cross-strait tensions. Its banks have also come through tough times. He reckons that, with government plans to promote Taiwan as an international financial center, the banking sector could boom. But Amy Wang of Nomura Securities in Taipei cautions: "It's not a good time to be in bank stocks." Yet she sees positive developments on the horizon.
