| Abstract | In May 1996, a member of the Democratic Party announced the results of a poll which apparently revealed that about 60 per cent of the population thought there was too much sex and violence in local newspapers. On the other hand we have to set against this the indisputable fact the majority of the population reads precisely those papers against which this charge is most frequently laid. |
