| Abstract | The author is surprised to find words and expressions, thought to be long since obsolete, reappear with meanings quite different from the original, familiar sense. Modern Chinese also contains some entirely new words--not newly-invented characters, but simply new word combinatons--which may at first be difficult to understand. In this article, the author discusses and demonstrates the phenomenon with examples. |
