| Abstract | For 155 years, London has ruled Hong Kong, bringing with it such peculiar rituals as cricket, afternoon tea and the class structure. As this era ends, the exploits of four colonial alternatives to the British, the French, the Belgian, the Dutch and the Portuguese, are considered in this article. And the things they might have done for the barren rock are also discussed. |
