AbstractThe Institute Classification Clause has been widely used in marine cargo insurance policies in Hong Kong. A contract of insurance is a contract dictating the rights and obligations between the assured and the underwriter (or insurer). Shippers, consignees and cargo owners should fully understand the implications of the terms and conditions of their contract of insurance. Failure to comply with any of the obligations of the contract may lead to rejection of claims by the insurance company.
