AbstractThe concept of green consumption originated in the West only recently. With increasing awareness of a looming environmental crisis. the idea of "rational consumption" - buying what is really needed - has been promoted by environmentalists. The rationale is to minimize damage to the earth so that the crisis of overproduction and overconsumption can be cured. However, many people misunderstand it today to mean simply to buy more green products. Sometimes the claim of green products is just misleading. Green labels may be exploited as a promotional technique.
