Abstract | To document the nature of the practice of psychology in Hong Kong,a survey is conducted to collect data on clinical and educational psychologists' demographic characterisitics, professional affiliations, professional activities, testing practices, theoretical orientations and therapeutic activities, and their plans in practising psychology in Hong Kong beyond 1997. Survey results are presented in detail, including the findings that most psychologists surveyed were employed in government departments or in universities and colleges, conducted testing and psychotherapy of some forms, and could be characterized as eclectic in orientation. Their intention of practising psychology in post-1997 Hong Kong was also explored. Limits to the generalizability of these results are discussed. |
