| Abstract | Swire Pacific, one of the oldest British-controlled conglomerates in Hong Kong with interests in aviation, property, trading and services, announced it was reducing its stakes in territory flag-carrier Cathay Pacific and sister airline Dragonair. The beneficiaries would be two powerful mainland concerns: the China National Aviation Corp. (CNAC), an arm of the airline regulatory agency, and CITIC Pacific, the listed Hong Kong subsidiary of the country's top investment corporation. |
