| Abstract | A previous article Promoting environmentally friendly buildings (Asia Engineer, May 1995) announced the development of an environmental assessment method for office buildings in Hong Kong. The HK-BEAM scheme currently being beta tested by the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong embraces both new and existing office premises. The distinction between b̀uilding' and p̀remises' is made because in circumstances where an office block or tower forms part of a composite building complex, only the building fabric and engineering services serving the offices are assessed. |
