AbstractNot so long ago, Hong Kong had the reputation of a cultural desert. Today the arts are blooming both in the professional mainstream and in experimental and amateur pursuits. Critics will say there's a long way to go in terms of public interest and higher standards - but by anyone's criteria great strides have been made. Culture is no longer just a frill or a spectator sport.
