| Abstract | Chance determined the final design for the redevelopment of the Peninsula Hotel. Had the height restrictions on buildings in Kowloon not been raised so dramatically in 1989, a completely different - and more radical solution - would have been built. That scheme, having crossed considerable approvals hurdles, reached tender stage before falling to the present single tower design. |
