Abstract | President Jiang Zemin leaves Beijing for Russia in September 1994, the first Chinese head of state to visit Moscow since 1957, when Chairman Mao Zedong flew to the then Soviet capital for talks with Kruschev. On the eve of President Jiang's trip, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, in a rare interview with the Xinhua News Agency, spoke highly and expectantly of their forthcoming meeting. The two heads of state will sign two agreements on border demarcation and nuclear pledges, and a joint communique will stress long-term development between the two countries. |
