| Abstract | The author takes a look at elections in Germany and Sweden and sees what implications they may or may not have for Asia. For China, Germany is her number one European trade partner. Between the two major contesting parties: the alliance led by Chancellor Helmut Kohl's Christian Democratic Party and the opposition posed by the Social Democrats, it is not difficult to guess that Beijing would be happy to continue to deal with Kohl's government which it knows well and considers an important friend within the European Union. |
