AbstractA good bank, goes the adage, doesn't take the umbrella away when it rains. Calling in a loan when a borrower runs into cash problems is, as most bankers know, a sure way to lose both borrower and loan. Lee Kuan Yew, the guest of honor, must have been gratified by the towering edifices that prudent finances and high savings, long prized in the republic he founded, have built.
