| Abstract | The Hong Kong Government commissioned consultants to draw up the Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme (SSDS), a plan to collect sewage, through a system of deep tunnels, for treatment at a plant on Stonecutters Island prior to disposal through a submarine outfall to Western Harbour. Phase I comprises the upgrading of seven preliminary works, two covering the northeast shore of Hong Kong and the remaining five covering the urban area of Kowloon from Tseung Kwan O to Kwai Chung. |
