| Abstract | The University and Polytechnic Grants Committee (UPGC) introduced for the first time in 1995 a Research Assessment Exercise to assess the research activity of nominated individual academics, to see if they passed a predefined threshold, for the ultimate purpose of determining part of the bloc research grant given to their institute. This creats academic concerns. The author suggests members to air the problem, at least for engineering. |
