Article TitleThe return of the gentle persuader : Hans Lutz has always believed in education, not confrontation.
Is Part OfAsiaweek ; v.22, no.15, 12 Apr 1996, p.9, illus.
AbstractWhen Hans Lutz, the Lutheran missionary, arrived in Hong Kong in 1968 to begin fighting for the rights of local workers, he found himself virtually alone against legions of sweat-shop employers and a government that was long on sympathy, but short on legislation. Today, Hong Kong's labor representatives are among the best organized in Asia, and Lutz and other overseas-born activists have slipped out of the limelight.
