AbstractNinety-eight patients admitted to Queen Mary Hospital with a clinical diagnosis of acute pelvic inflammatory disease from January, 1993 to December, 1994 were studied. The majority of the patients (62.5%) had polymicrobial infection. Chlamydia trachomatis (33.3%) was the most common organism found in these patients. Antichlamydia agent is recommended in the treatment regimen for acute pelvic inflammatory disease.
