| Abstract | According to a survey of TV ratings, the most popular show in Hongkong last year was a beauty pageant. Though if truth be told, we can assume that the popularity of the beauty pageants as seen by millions of Hongkong's viewers, probably has a lot more to do with the swimsuit competition, during which each contestant's vital statistics are broadcast as if they were the odds for the next race at Happy Valley, than Hongkong viewers cheering on the Territory's prettiest young things embarking on an exercise in boosting their self esteem. |
