Article TitleChina's macroeconomic adjustment programme and its impact on the Hong Kong economy.
Is Part OfHang Seng economic monthly ; Feb 1996, p.1-4, illus.
AbstractChina's implementation of the macroeconomic adjustment measures since mid-1993 has led to a gradual slowing of growth in the country, but did not result in a hard-landing as in previous cycles. The impact on Hong Kong has also been moderate. The measures are estimated to have reduced the territory's economic growth by about one percentage point in both 1994 and 1995. In the longer run, the control measures would help to provide an improved business environment in China which is beneficial to the development of both the Chinese and Hong Kong economies.
