| Abstract | Legco is attempting to erode the credibility of the Preparatory Committee and create an atmosphere of public mistrust about its work. Yet looking at the PC's memebership, it is evident that China selected individuals who are representative of a broad range of Hong Kong opinion, while keeping out extremists of any stripe and emphasizing the importance of keeping the territory business-friendly and as apolitical as possible. This seems a worthy aim - if not necessarily one that fits the political programme of the Democratic Party and its fellow travellers. |
