But one can imagine its ultimate parent company, the London-based bank Standard Chartered, has been hoping to marry off its misbehaving subsidiary ever since a series of rat-trading and underwriting scams was uncovered in 1994 (the events which led the Securities and Futures Commission to suspend its underwriting operations.) |
