| Abstract | The first ever conference on bioethics in East Asia was held from November 3-5, 1995 in Beijing. Although the majority of the about 150 bioethicists and medical practitioners attending the conference came from the region, countries such as New Zealand, Australia and the United States were also well represented. The conference was jointly organized by Qui Renzong of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, and Hyakudai Sakamoto of Nihon University, Tokyo. |
