Abstract | The Hong Kong Housing Authority was established on 1 April 1973 under the Housing Ordinance, Chapter 283 of the Laws of Hong Kong. Then, on 1 April 1988, the Authority was reorganised and was given a separate financial identity and autonomy together with sufficient flexibility to effectively and efficiently implement the Government's Long Term Housing Strategy which aims to provide accommodation for all needy families before the end of this century. Its projects including Ma Hang Village Estate and the neighbourhood shopping centre of Yui Tung Estate are introduced in the article. |
