| Abstract | Given the spate of industrial accidents in Hong Kong's booming construction industry, safety is a hot issue. Recently, the construction engineering fraternity, under the aegis of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health Association (HKOSHA), organized a symposium on safety audits, as they are a critical element in an overall safety management system. The author, president, HKOSHA, talked about the key issues involved, and the emergence of a cadre of independent safety auditors who will play a key role in safety management. |
