| Abstract | The era of grand railway stations is gone, but there is a similarly monumental aura about Hongkong's new airport terminal. Many features of the Chek Lap Kok facility now under construction are worthy of the record books. Its construction will require 1 million cubic metres of concrete, 500 cu m of flexible pavement, 100,000 tonnes of reinforcement and 53,150 sq m of glass cladding. |
