| Abstract | A 38-year-old Hongkong Chinese woman has launched a High Court challenge to power of magistrates to convict and jail suspected prostitutes under the Crimes Ordinance. It is the first time the ordinance's proscription of "soliciting for an immoral purpose" - the principal weapon used by police against suspected prostitutes - has been challenged in court. Prostitution itself - selling sex - is not illegal. |
