| Abstract | As family doctors we lay somewhere in the middle ground. We should have a good background and knowledge of medical and surgical specialities but illness should be viewed in the context of the individual person. Physical, psychological and social factors combine producing a series of problems unique to each individual. The family doctor must be aware that the presenting symptom is rarely the whole problem and frequently not the true problem at all. |
