Article TitleWhat value architecture? : the Hong Kong way.
Is Part OfHinge ; v.21, Oct/Nov 1995, p.20, illus.
AbstractIn spite of the fame of its skyline, the attitude to architecture in Hong Kong both by the authorities and its residents, is a little less supportive than that of some European countries (France for example). In fact, design in general tends to be overlooked by Hong Kong as it sets its blinkered sights exclusively on the colour of money. The vibes from the top are not exactly encouraging; short-sighted, tight-pocketed developers continue to quench any bright sparks with creative ideas among our architects; and the Government appears to blatantly ignore the Design industry when apportioning funding and support to the service industries.
