| Abstract | The President of the Supreme People's Court, Ren Jianxin, declared flatly that, "the People's Courts must self-consciously accept Party leadership. It is a mistake to think, because there is the law, that justice can be executed without the guidance of the policies of the Communist Party. Separation of powers is bourgeois." Chinese law is, in the words of William Alford, the Harvard professor, "a tool of state administration." |
